What we have done
From the sale of our photographs and from various donations, we started
with a small budget, approximately 400€/ 16.500 rupees. We also
received 40 pairs of glasses and sunglasses, and some clothing.
On our return, we organized an eye check-up for our elderly friends with Mr.S.
T. Angchok, in Ladakh. Mr. Angchok is not only an excellent ophthalmologist, but
also a very kind man. He worked for fifty-three people free!
It was a generous gesture on his part, and a big help for us. We were able to
by the medicines he prescribed, and we also provided some social services such
as transporting people to the clinic, to the monasteries, getting their medicines
from the pharmacy, and buying extra food and clothing.
Since then, in the last two years, we have spent approximately 1500€/
61500 rupees for the "elderly orphans".
What we do today
Today we have a common fund of 1000€ / 50.000 rupees from
which we manage our administration and provide emergency help for the
very needy in the Himalayas.
We are also working with the Tibetan Children's Village in Choglamsar and
McLeod Ganj to find people who are willing to sponsor these elderly refugees.
We continue to look for other such refugees, and are trying to provide sufficient
resources to cope with their often-urgent situations. Even this is not enough
in many cases, or it is too late already.
About the organization
Drolma does not have a membership. It is a small organization, which is open to
anybody who wants to help. Once or regularly, financially or materially - help
is help, no matter how much it is.
Your donations are directly transferred to the Himalayas and will be spend
directly for the people. We pay local Indian prices, which makes a big different
when we need to buy something!
We could not do without you.
